The
pre-production phase begins when funding for a project is
secured and the relevant contracts have been entered into. All
the work undertaken from the pre-production phase onwards will be covered
by the production budget.
To begin with, the responsibilities of the writer, director, and
production manager will be defined. Depending on the specific
production, other key production crew such as photographer will
also be involved. When working fro a client, we will usually
work closely with the client's representative(s) on the script
and production planning.
The following
tasks will be covered during the pre-production process -
-
Research and
synopsis/script writing
-
Location reconnaissance
and planning
-
Professional
casting and
agreements with voluntary participants or location owners
-
Selection of
freelance creative team members such as composer and
narrator
-
Selection of
additional technical crew
-
Technical
equipment preparations
-
Sourcing of
costumes, properties and consumables
-
Preparation
of production plan
-
Transport,
travel, insurance, documentation and accommodation
requirements
-
Coordination
with client and others involved
-
Health and
safety considerations
Amongst other
matters, the production plan will define the specific aspects
and phases of the production process for which approval from the
client will be required. |
